At Joyful Learners, we believe that every child can develop mathematical understanding. The journey looks different for every learner and that’s exactly how It should be.
We meet children where they are at academically and developmentally and build upon skills they already have. We honour each child’s individual learning process, allowing understanding to develop at a pace that supports genuine confidence and lasting success.

The Joyful Learners Math Approach
We teach math because children need it for life, AND because learning to solve difficult problems helps them discover what they are capable of.
Adaptive Teaching
We adapt our teaching to the learner rather than expecting every child to learn the same way. Our goal is not to rush them along but to help kids discover their way.
The greatest gift of learning math is the moment a child realizes, “I can do something I never thought I could.”
Creative Approach
Our approach is creative, flexible and responsive to the child in front of us. We look for ways to make math concepts meaningful and accessible. We use hands on materials, visual representation, movement, games and real life experiences to help find pathways to understanding.
Pacing/Regulation
Learning isn’t a race to the finish line. It’s a journey of discovery. We pace our math lessons so that we are always prioritizing a regulated nervous system, over a completed work sheet.
